Kaws' BFF Sculpture Takes Center Stage at Dior Homme Debut

At Kim Jones' debut show for Dior Homme in Paris, a 12-meter floral statue by street artist Kaws dominated the circular runway inside the Palace of the Garde républicaine. The sculpture, dedicated to Christian Dior and his dog Bobby, took the form of Kaws' signature BFF (Best Friend Forever) character. Kaws, born Brian Donnelly in 1974, also redesigned Dior's bee logo in his cartoon style. His BFF toys, often sold for up to $9,000, blur the line between art and merchandise. Kaws has collaborated with brands like A Bathing Ape, Supreme, and Nike, and his next project, "Kaws: Holiday," features a 28-meter floating BFF on Seoul's Seokchon Lake from July 19 to August 19, accompanied by a capsule collection of pool gadgets. Jones called Kaws "a really important artist right now," noting his work is "more an expression of contemporary culture than art."
