Katseye's Sophia Laforteza Takes Hiatus for Mental Health, Second Member to Step Away

Sophia Laforteza, vocalist of the global girl group Katseye, has announced a temporary departure from the group to address mental health concerns, making her the second member to step away this year. The announcement was made on 7 August 2026, less than six months after fellow member Manon Bannerman went on hiatus in February. HYBE x Geffen Records, the label behind the group, stated that Laforteza will be unable to participate in upcoming promotional activities and has been advised to take extended rest and ongoing care. The label emphasized that her health and wellness are the highest priority, with her condition to be reassessed in September. Laforteza shared on Instagram that the decision was difficult but necessary, expressing her commitment to heal and return stronger. The group, formed in 2023 with six members and nominated for two Grammy Awards last year, will continue with four members. The label also noted that Katseye members have faced online death threats since their debut, and Bannerman's hiatus remains open-ended. Laforteza's departure highlights ongoing concerns about artist wellbeing in the entertainment industry.
