Kathmandu Triennale 2017 launches with Belgian curator Philippe Van Cauteren and 50+ international artists
On 24 March 2017, the Siddhartha Arts Foundation launches the first Kathmandu Triennale, curated by Belgian Philippe Van Cauteren. Titled 'The City: My Studio / The City: My Life,' the event showcases over 50 artists hailing from more than 25 nations, who will draw inspiration from Kathmandu, viewing the city as a creative laboratory for artistic expression. This Triennale builds upon the Kathmandu International Arts Festival held in 2009 and 2012, marking a significant increase in scale and ambition with additional exhibitions and a broader program. Running until 9 April 2017, the event will take place at various venues in Kathmandu and Patan, including educational initiatives and collateral events by partners like S.M.A.K. Ghent, Belgium, aiming to establish the city as a vibrant artistic center.
