Kathleen Reinhardt curates German Pavilion at Venice Biennale with Sung Tieu and Henrike Naumann

Kathleen Reinhardt has been appointed curator of the German Pavilion at the 2024 Venice Biennale. She selected artists Sung Tieu and Henrike Naumann for the exhibition titled "Ruin." The concept uses East Germany as a prism to examine contemporary issues of power, history, and politics. Reinhardt stated that the project addresses a current backlash against progressive narratives. The pavilion will explore how ruins—both physical and ideological—shape collective memory and identity. This marks a continuation of the German Pavilion's tradition of politically engaged art.
