Kate Bush Song Inspires 50+ UK Artists for War Child Auction

market-auction · 2026-04-26

More than 50 British visual artists have produced pieces inspired by Kate Bush's 1985 song "Running Up That Hill" for a charity auction benefiting War Child. This auction, part of the Sound & Vision initiative (named after David Bowie's 1977 track), will take place online from October 28 to November 13, 2025, starting at £100. Notable contributors include Maggi Hambling, Peter Doig (who has two works: "The Hill" and "Child of War"), and others like Corbin Shaw and Susie Hamilton. The artworks will be displayed at London's Iconic Images Gallery in Piccadilly from November 4 to 8, curated by Art on a Postcard. Proceeds will assist War Child, which helps children affected by war, with Bush emphasizing, "All wars leave horrible scars... it is children who suffer the most." War Child reports that nearly 1 in 5 children globally faces the impact of conflict, the highest rate since WWII.
