Kase Unveils AF 150mm f/5.6 Reflex Lens with Donut Bokeh
Kase, known for filters, has announced the AF 150mm f/5.6 reflex lens, a rare autofocus mirror lens that produces distinctive donut-shaped bokeh. Teased at CP+ earlier this year, the lens features a catadioptric design with a central obstruction creating the circular bokeh effect. Unlike typical reflex lenses that prioritize long focal lengths, this 150mm telephoto is relatively short. Kase leans into the aesthetic, aiming to make donut bokeh appealing for portraits. The lens has a fixed f/5.6 aperture, 67mm filter thread, magnetic filter compatibility, and a USB-C port for firmware updates. It focuses as close as 1.5 meters. Available for preorder at $649 for Nikon Z, Sony E, and Canon EF mounts, and $799 for Fujifilm GFX. Shipping begins May 29. Sony previously made an autofocus reflex lens for A-mount, but this is a first for mirrorless. Sample images from the 200mm f/5.6 illustrate the bokeh style.
