KaschKasch and Villeroy & Boch Unveil Hand-Glazed Antao Earth Washbasins
Cologne-based design studio KaschKasch and German ceramics brand Villeroy & Boch have introduced Antao Earth, a new series of hand-glazed, surface-mounted washbasins. The dewdrop-shaped basins extend the existing Antao collection and feature an Artisan Glaze applied by hand, developed in collaboration with Villeroy & Boch's high-tech glazing lab in Mettlach, Germany. The finish highlights natural variations in color and texture, offering a tactile experience while maintaining everyday functionality. KaschKasch co-founder Florian Kallus noted the challenge of combining emotional appeal with practicality, while co-founder Sebastian Schneider emphasized the precision required at the interface of design and high-end ceramics technology. The basins are available in three nature-inspired colorways: Sand, Terra, and Smoke, and are designed to be mixed and matched with other Antao collection items for a cohesive bathroom scheme. The product was launched via Dezeen Showroom, a platform for brands to showcase new products to a global audience.
