Karim Boumjimar's Bodies Under Construction at Møstings Explores Porous Bodies

Karim Boumjimar's exhibition 'Bodies Under Construction' at Møstings, The Frederiksberg Museums, runs from March 28, 2026, to June 7, 2026. The 27-year-old artist presents large-scale wall paintings, ceramics, and sculptures that challenge the human body as a discrete entity. Boumjimar treats the body as a transitional state, creating hybrid figures that dissolve species boundaries across rooms painted sage green, warm amber, muted dusty rose, and coral. Ceramic works like 'Life Still Goes On' (2026), 'Deep Leopard' (2025), and 'Oracle' (2025) are displayed on white metal scaffolding with fluorescent lighting, appearing as specimens mid-examination. In a pale blue room, the unglazed clay sculpture 'Zaatar' (2025) stands alone, while 'Silverware #1–13' (2026) presents silver casts of bodily fluids in a display case. The historic villa's late nineteenth-century architecture, with its domestic formality, becomes part of the work's argument against sealed spaces. Photographer Mikkel Kaldal documented the installation. The exhibition engages with ecological grief and posthuman discourse through physical experience rather than argument, making the porous boundary between self and environment felt. Boumjimar works across painting, ceramics, sculpture, performance, and drawing simultaneously.
