Karen Wilkin Lectures on Anthony Caro at Metropolitan Museum Tonight

other · 2026-04-22

Tonight at 6pm, independent curator and critic Karen Wilkin delivers a lecture titled 'Anthony Caro and the Onward of Art' at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her presentation will explore spatial and scalar concerns in Caro's work, complementing the museum's rooftop exhibition of his sculptures that closes October 30. Wilkin has authored multiple monographs on Caro and recently edited a five-volume series published by Lund Humphries, contributing her own volume 'Interior and Exterior.' As a leading authority on Caro, she has also written extensively about his American contemporaries including Helen Frankenthaler, Jules Olitski, and critic Clement Greenberg. The free lecture takes place in the Bonnie J. Sacerdote Lecture Hall within the Uris Center for Education. Additional notable New York art talks scheduled for next week feature Gabriel Orozco at Hunter College on October 18 and painter Judith Linhares at the New York Studio School the same evening.
