Kanye West's Swiss Concert Canceled by FC Basel 1893 Over Antisemitic Remarks

FC Basel 1893, a Swiss football club, has canceled a June concert by American rapper Kanye West at St. Jakob-Park stadium, citing alignment with its values. This decision follows the cancellation of his shows in London and Chorzów, Poland, due to his antisemitic statements. West, a prominent hip-hop artist, recently resumed live performances in North America after releasing his album Bully. He is scheduled for a European tour this summer, including an Italian date on July 18. In recent years, West has expressed explicit antisemitic views, sampled Adolf Hitler's speeches in songs, and sold swastika-themed shirts on Shopify. In January, he purchased a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal to apologize for attacks on Jewish and African American communities, attributing his behavior to a late-diagnosed bipolar disorder. A concert in Marseille, France, set for June 11, was postponed after French government officials indicated they would ban it.
