Kantor and Jarema Dialogue at 2026 Venice Biennale Collateral Event
From May 9 to November 22, 2026, the Starak Family Foundation will host 'Tadeusz Kantor (1915–1990): Emballage, Cricotage and Madame Jarema' as a Collateral Event during the 61st Venice Biennale at Procuratie Vecchie in St. Mark's Square. This marks the foundation's fifth showcase of Polish art in Venice. The exhibition delves into the artistic exchange between Tadeusz Kantor and Maria Jarema (1908–1958), featuring Kantor's contributions to informel painting, emballages, and happenings like 'The Dead Class' (1975). Jarema's creations, including monotypes and costume designs for Kantor's works, emphasize their collaboration. The exhibition is supported by the Starak Collection, Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, and Cricoteka. Kantor was honored with several accolades, such as the Rembrandt Prize in 1978.
