Kandinsky's Russia at Milan's Mudec
Milan's Mudec – Museo delle Culture hosts a major exhibition on Vasily Kandinsky from March 15 to July 9, 2017, marking the centenary of the Russian Revolution and approaching the 150th anniversary of the artist's birth. The show features at least 49 works by Kandinsky, some never before seen in Italy, loaned from top Russian museums: the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Museum, and the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art in Moscow. Additionally, 85 icons, popular prints, and examples of decorative art illustrate the formation of Kandinsky's visual imagination, deeply rooted in Russian tradition, and his journey toward abstract painting. The exhibition is titled "Kandinsky, the Wandering Knight. Journey to Abstraction."
