Kandinsky Blockbuster Show in Rovigo Extended Hours Due to Public Success

Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo hosts a major retrospective of Vasily Kandinsky (1866–1944), featuring 80 high-quality works spanning his entire career. Curated by Paolo Bolpagni and Evgenia Petrova, the exhibition includes pieces from his figurative beginnings, the Murnau period, the Blue Rider era, his Bauhaus years, and his final period in France. It also features works by associates like Paul Klee, Alexej von Jawlensky, and Marianne von Werefkin, plus folk art objects from Kandinsky's personal collection. The show emphasizes Kandinsky's relationship with music, spirituality, and popular art. Due to strong attendance, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo extended weekend and pre-holiday opening hours. The exhibition is organized chronologically, starting with his ethnographic trip to Vologda, and includes rare glass paintings called 'bagatelles.' Bolpagni describes Kandinsky as an 'anti-dogmatic' artist and a patient researcher rather than a revolutionary.
