Kader Attia's La Colonie relaunches as nomadic project Fragments of Repair in Paris
Kader Attia's Paris arts space La Colonie has transformed into a nomadic initiative called Fragments of Repair, organized by BAK, basis voor actuele kunst in Utrecht and the artist. The project will be hosted at La Dynamo de Banlieues Bleues in Pantin, Paris. Conceptualized by political theorist Françoise Vergès, this three-month collective study program begins on 17 April, exploring decolonial repair as a response to collective mental health crises exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Research from the program will be accessible online via the L'Oasis platform. A Zoom colloquium launching the project will feature Attia, Vergès, BAK's Maria Hlavajova, Sven Lütticken, Wietske Maa, and philosophers Catherine Malabou and Achille Mbembe. Originally founded in 2016, La Colonie closed in July due to pandemic pressures after hosting lectures and workshops on decolonization debates. Attia recently accepted the curatorial role for the 2022 Berlin Biennale.
