Ka – Nuovo Immaginario Migrante: Film and Art Explore Migration in the Marche

The Ka – Nuovo Immaginario Migrante festival, the only project in the Marche region to win the MIBACT 'MigrArti Cinema' grant, runs from June 12 to 27 in Jesi and Senigallia. Organized by cultural association PEPE LAB and foreign women's association ACADS, with a broad regional and national network, it was conceived by Valeria Bochi, Sabrina Maggiori, and Evelyn Puerini. The festival examines migration and multiculturalism through educational programs in schools and public screenings of animated shorts and films introduced by international guests. Notable is Erri De Luca, who will introduce 'Loza', a film about a five-year-old girl traveling alone to Europe. The theme of movement is also explored through Ai Weiwei's 'Human Flow', documenting mass exodus; 'Thank You for the Rain', on climate change; 'Hotel Splendid', on forced coexistence among asylum seekers; and 'Asmarina', linking to Italian colonial history. A six-by-three-meter poster, created by artists reworking migration themes through new poetics and contaminations, uses street art to return history to the community, building a new idea of humanity that connects diverse cultures.
