K-Studio Reveals Redesign for Athens Kallithea FC's El Paso Stadium
K-Studio, in partnership with Athens Kallithea FC and Arup, has introduced a redesign for El Paso Stadium (Grigoris Lamprakis Stadium) located in Kallithea, Athens, Greece. This stadium has served as the club's home since 1970 and derives its name from the rocky surroundings reminiscent of the 1965 Spaghetti Western 'For a Few Dollars More.' The redesign aims to increase seating capacity from 6,300 to 9,000 while maintaining the venue's authentic character. A significant aspect of the plan includes removing the fenced perimeter to enhance greenery and improve the microclimate. The new facade, inspired by Athenian scaffolding, will accommodate community programs like food, retail, wellness, exhibitions, and events. Dimitris Karampatakis, a founding partner, highlighted the importance of preserving the building's historical essence, while Creative Director Giorgos Karampelas described the initiative as a driver for urban renewal. Visualizations are provided by Filippo Bolognese Images.
