Justin Hardy, Director of Wicker Man Sequel, Dies at 61

Justin Hardy, a British director known for helming the sequel to his father Robin Hardy's iconic 1973 horror film, The Wicker Man, died from a heart attack at 61 on Friday night. His family fondly described him as “a man of family, of boundless creativity.” An accomplished writer and director, Hardy received BAFTA and Emmy nominations and was celebrated for his documentary, Children of the Wicker Man, which he created alongside his brother Dominic in 2024. He had just wrapped up filming Wrath of the Gods, the final part of the Wicker Man trilogy, set to premiere in London this month. He also worked on historical films for the BBC, Channel 4, and CNN. He is survived by his wife Larissa and their four kids.
