Justin Caguiat's Heat-Responsive Paintings and Bell Installations to Debut at Serpentine South

Justin Caguiat's exhibition, 'Change Ringing', will mark the first institutional showcase of his work in the UK, set to open on 8th October 2026 at Serpentine South. The artist, who hails from Tokyo, will present a variety of mediums, including heat-sensitive paintings, bronze bells, sculptures, prints, sound, and film. A unique installation will feature thermochromic paintings on copper, activated by heating pads and bell sounds. Sound plays a crucial role, with a composition by Lily Pickett inspired by English change ringing, alongside bronze bells. This exhibition builds on Caguiat's 'Zodiac Machine' project and draws influence from Justo Gallego Martínez's Catedral de Justo. Curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Natalia Grabowska, it will be open until 10th January 2027. Born in 1989, Caguiat has a significant presence in major art collections.
