Jürgen Nefzger's Fluffy Clouds at Artothèque de Pessac

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Jürgen Nefzger's exhibition at Artothèque de Pessac, running until October 23, 2007, centers on his series Fluffy Clouds. The series, shot across several European countries, juxtaposes idyllic scenes of leisure—fishing, swimming, golfing, suburban homes under snow—with the looming presence of nuclear power plants. Nefzger's work critiques environmental degradation, resource waste, and consumer society. A video projection titled Valdecaballeros focuses on a nuclear plant built in Extremadura, Spain (1974–1984) that never operated, yet still dominates the nearby village. The series explores the tension between innocence and perversion, enchantment and disruption, reflecting Nefzger's commitment as a politically engaged observer. The exhibition is presented by Artothèque de Pessac.
