Julio Le Parc Dies at 97; Art Basel Paris Returns; Christie's Gets New Chairman

Julio Le Parc, the renowned Argentine kinetic artist, passed away at the age of 97. Christie's London is set to auction 106 items from the Zabludowicz Collection on June 28, with an estimated value of £15 million. A T. Rex fossil could reach $30 million at Sotheby's on July 14. François-Henri Pinault has been appointed as the new chairman of Christie's board. The fifth edition of Art Basel Paris will take place at the Grand Palais from October 23–25, 2025, featuring over 200 exhibitors under the direction of Karim Crippa. The Open Invitational art fair will debut its first European edition at Frank Areal in Basel from June 15–20, highlighting artists with disabilities. Art Week Tokyo is scheduled for November 4–8, while Stay Frosty Kingston will occur on June 26–27. Additionally, the art world mourns the loss of Ben Morea at 84, Alan Saret at 81, and Paula Kamps at 36. Tiwani Contemporary has also closed its London gallery.
