Julien Perez Releases Concept Album Inspired by Frac Île-de-France Collection

Julien Perez, under the alias PEREZ, has released 'Un album de collection', a vinyl LP featuring 11 pop songs inspired by artworks from the collection of Le Plateau / Frac Île-de-France. The project began with a performance on June 23, 2016, at Le Plateau in Paris, combining video installation, live music, and synesthesia with Helena de Laurens. The album, released in 2017, translates works by artists such as Camille Henrot, Éléonore False, Benoît Maire, Saâdane Afif, Michel Blazy, and Jean-Charles Hue into music. Perez developed strategies and equivalences to create songs that extend the artworks. Alain Berland's article in artpress2 discusses Perez's dual identity as a visual artist and singer, linking him to artists like Lola Gonzàlez and Benoît Maire, and composers like Alain Kan and Christophe. In 2016, Perez also collaborated with Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster on 'Exotourisme', where she performed as a singer.
