Julien Creuzet Wins 2021 BMW Art Journey Award for Caribbean Research Project

The 2021 BMW Art Journey Award has been awarded to Julien Creuzet, a multimedia artist born in 1986 and represented by HIGH ART in Paris. For his project, he plans to return to Martinique, collaborating with students in the arts, musicians, and filmmakers to craft sculptures inspired by the fauna of the Antilles and film underwater scenes in Guadeloupe. His goal is to compile material for a 'Caribbean road movie' that fuses fiction, documentary, poetry, and 3D art. The jury, which included Claire Hsu, Matthias Mühling, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Philip Tinari, and Samson Young, commended Creuzet for his emphasis on mobility, climate issues, and local heritage. Kelvin Kyung Kun Park and Alice Wang were also among the shortlisted artists. The BMW Art Journey facilitates artist travel for research worldwide.
