Julien Bismuth's Harlequinades at Galerie Vallois

At Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois in Paris, Julien Bismuth presents 'Harlequinades,' a series of drawings and watercolors featuring Harlequin figures. The series began during the COVID-19 lockdown in New York in spring 2020, using inkjet-printed newspaper images of deserted urban spaces as support. Bismuth inserts the timeless Harlequin into these static, ghostly cityscapes, creating a theatrical contrast. Over time, he shifts from collage on newspaper to watercolor and wood supports, with Harlequin often accompanied by animal companions. The exhibition runs until May 25, 2022.
