Julie Harrison's Rising Tide at Garrison Art Center

Rising Tide, a solo exhibition by visual artist and educator Julie Harrison, is currently on display at Garrison Art Center in Garrison, New York. This showcase features twelve works on paper that Harrison has created over the past four years. Driven by a sense of curiosity and adventure, her artistic journey has transitioned from early video art and performance to drawing. Harrison describes her work as an exploration of the unseen frameworks that influence organic life and ecological systems, represented through layered, abstract lines and shapes that depict energetic exchanges, forming fragments of an imagined biology. Her drawings incorporate graphite, ink, and digitally sourced images of microscopic organisms, brain activity, and her own cutout shapes, emphasizing her unique blend of art and science.
