Julia Fullerton-Batten's Largest Exhibition Opens at IPFO Haus Der Fotografie in Olten

IPFO Haus Der Fotografie in Olten is presenting Julia Fullerton-Batten's most extensive exhibition to date, featuring over 50 images from seven distinct projects across three floors. The exhibition, titled 'Interpretations,' includes works like 'Unadorned' (2012), which contrasts historical Old Master painting influences with contemporary Western body ideals, and 'Feral Children' (2015), exploring documented cases of children raised without human care. Fullerton-Batten's ongoing 'Old Father Thames' project, her largest to date, recreates little-known historical events along England's River Thames, including the award-winning short film '1814 Frost Fair' (2018) about the last complete freeze of the Thames. Other featured series include 'Contortion' (2021), showcasing youthful contortionists, and 'Looking out from Within' (2020), documenting West London's COVID-19 lockdown. The artist's career highlights include winning a prestigious HSBC award that introduced her 'Teenage Stories' project internationally, a National Portrait Gallery commission resulting in a solo exhibition, and interviews with BBC and Sky TV about her work.
