Julia Child's 'Dinner at Julia's' Filming Location, Four Oaks Estate in Santa Barbara, Lists for $22 Million

The renowned Four Oaks estate in Santa Barbara, where Julia Child filmed her 'Dinner at Julia's' cooking show in the 1980s, is currently listed for $22 million. This property, designed by architects Edwards and Plunkett in 1934, was commissioned by Clarence B. Mitchell, the son of Chicago banker John J. Mitchell. Situated on nearly three acres in the Hope Ranch area, the estate features a main house of around 10,000 square feet, including six bedrooms, a formal dining room, a fitness room, and a wood-paneled library. The kitchen, which has been modernized with two islands and a professional range, differs from its original appearance during filming. Notable past owners include Fess Parker and Samuel Battistone. Last sold in 2010 for $6.85 million, the grounds boast manicured gardens, a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a detached guesthouse. Dusty Baker Group of Sotheby's International Realty holds the listing. After her husband Paul's death in 2001, Child relocated to nearby Montecito. Her famous kitchen from Cambridge was later donated to the Smithsonian.
