Juice Festival 1996: The Birth of Marche's Graffiti Scene

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The inaugural Juice jam session for mural painting in Ancona in 1996 was a significant event for Italian hip hop and graffiti culture. To commemorate its anniversary from July 22-24, 2016, the festival showcases legendary writers such as Damage, Enko, Lego, Wany, Won, and Fanta. Attendees can look forward to unique interviews with artists like Dare, Mode2, Can2, Rostro, Poseidon, and Musa. Notably, Dare created his first mural in Italy at Juice. Giorgio Bartocci reflects on how Juice highlighted the intricacies of the national scene. Additionally, the Pop Up! festival, initiated by MAC in late 2008, promoted street art throughout the Marche region. A bike tour on July 23, 2016, concludes at Porta Pia, featuring Ericailcane's "ROVINA."
