Juergen Teller Takes Over Grand Palais Éphémère with Radical Retrospective
The Grand Palais Éphémère in Paris is currently showcasing its inaugural exhibition focused on contemporary fashion photographer Juergen Teller, titled "I need to live." This significant retrospective, running until January 9, 2024, encompasses over 800 prints and 300 documents from the German artist's career. Curated with the expertise of Thomas Weski and organized by the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, the display features a unique installation by London’s 6a architects, characterized by a continuous plywood wall nearly 5 meters tall and 400 meters long. Teller’s work merges commercial fashion photography with contemporary art, highlighting portraits of icons such as Kurt Cobain and Vivienne Westwood. The exhibition also includes collaborations with renowned brands and personal pieces, concluding with a video of Charlotte Rampling. It will move to the Triennale di Milano in spring 2024.
