Judith Waldmann Appointed Curator at Kunsthaus Merano

Judith Waldmann, who hails from Tübingen and was born in 1985, has been appointed as the new curator for contemporary art at Kunsthaus Merano, taking over from Christiane Rekade. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the museum, which is part of Kunst Meran Merano Arte. Waldmann's background includes roles at the Adrian Piper Research Archive Foundation in Berlin and as Head of Exhibition at Monitoring in Kassel, with her research delving into social and political issues. Her inaugural exhibition will focus on multilingualism in Merano, showcasing works by artists such as Babi Badalov and Carla Accardi. She has voiced concerns over the impact of pandemic-related closures on cultural institutions and seeks to enhance the local art scene while tackling themes of identity and minority protection in collaboration with ArtVerona.
