Judith Hopf and Alf Lechner: A Dialogue in Steel and Brick at Lechner Museum

exhibition · 2026-05-26

The Lechner Museum Ingolstadt presents "Pennys," a dialogic exhibition pairing Judith Hopf's brick sculptures, graphic wall works, and "Landing Hoops" screenprints with Alf Lechner's massive steel sculptures and collaged form images. Curated by Dominik Bais, the show spans two floors with 38 works. In the former Audi factory hall, Hopf's brick sculptures—including balls, suitcases, and pears—are distributed like a collection, alongside tire works "CMYK (taz)" (2025–2026) coated in gray papier-mâché. A cylindrical curtain, "Flying Cinema Brickstone Tent," projects her video "UP!" (2016). The upper floor features Lechner's forged steel discs, ten centimeters thick and 1.5 meters in diameter, resembling coins or pennies. Works include Hopf's "Regen #6" (2026), to be installed on a nearby building, and "Lightning" (2022). The exhibition runs until April 11, 2027.
