Juan Pablo Macías' 'Soffio Vento Uccelli' Turns Breath into Art

digital · 2026-04-27

'Soffio Vento Uccelli,' a sound installation by Juan Pablo Macías, consists of audio recordings capturing breaths that mimic the sounds of wind and birds, contributed by residents of Pergola, Italy, during the lockdown in 2020. Initially produced remotely, the project grew to involve a broader community. Released in April 2021, the vinyl features four mixed tracks and was showcased in Pergola. This work is part of the Municipality of Pergola's 'Non Solo Museo' initiative, with backing from Regione Marche – Assessorato Beni e Attività Culturali. Contributions came from local residents and preschool children, with mixing by Daniele Catalucci and mastering by Gabriele Bogi and Daniele Catalucci. Macías, born in Mexico in 1974, examines anarchism through diverse artistic forms.
