JR's First Museum Retrospective in Italy Set for 2023 at Gallerie d'Italia Turin

French artist JR, known for large-scale urban projects blending street art and photography, will hold his first-ever museum retrospective in Italy at Gallerie d'Italia in Turin, opening in February 2023. The exhibition, curated by Arturo Galansino, will feature new works created specifically for the venue, which is owned by Intesa San Paolo and opened to the public in May 2022. JR announced the news via a social media video, expressing excitement about the space's potential. The show aims to combine center and periphery, using art as a tool for social change, according to a press release. JR has previously installed works in Italy, including 'La Ferita' at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and a mural on Palazzo Farnese in Rome.
