JR documentary premieres at Lo Schermo dell'Arte 2020 in Florence
The 13th edition of Lo Schermo dell'Arte, Florence's annual film and contemporary art festival directed by Silvia Lucchesi, will feature the Italian premiere of a documentary on French artist JR. The film, directed by Serge July and Daniel Ablin in collaboration with JR, traces his international career and focuses on his monumental urban photographic interventions involving local populations in cities from New York to Palestine to China. The festival runs November 10–14, 2020. Other Italian premieres include Keith Haring: Street Art Boy by Ben Anthony (marking 30 years since the artist's death), Hans Hartung, a Passion for Painting by Romain Goupil, and Aalto by Virpi Suutari about architects Alvar and Aino Aalto. The festival also screens Letter to a Friend, in which artist Emily Jacir addresses Forensic Architecture.
