Joseph Beuys Centenary Exhibition Opens at Helga de Alvear Museum in Cáceres

In Cáceres, Spain, the Fundación Helga de Alvear is showcasing the exhibition 'Antecedentes, coincidencias e influencias' to honor the centenary of Joseph Beuys (Krefeld, 1921–Düsseldorf, 1986). Curated by José María Viñuela, the display includes 44 artworks, featuring six by Beuys alongside contributions from his friends and students, such as Imi Knoebel and Nam June Paik. Noteworthy pieces include Werner Krüger's 'Künstlerfotos' and a film documenting Beuys's 1974 performance 'Coyote. I Like America and America Likes Me.' Helga de Alvear, a German benefactor, donated her collection to Cáceres, with part of it exhibited in the museum that opened in April. The exhibition is available for viewing until May 12, 2022, at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Helga de Alvear.
