José Guirao's 204-piece collection donated to CAAC

The Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo (CAAC) has been gifted a collection comprising 204 artworks and 1,824 documents from the estate of José Guirao, a former Spanish Minister of Culture who passed away in 2024. This transfer, announced in the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía, was facilitated by his sister, Beatriz María Guirao Cabrera. Among the donated pieces are works by prominent Spanish artists such as Antoni Tàpies and Luis Gordillo. The archive holds significant research potential for Spain's cultural networks. Guirao, who was born in Pulpí in 1959, played a pivotal role in establishing the CAAC in the early 1990s and served as Minister of Culture and Sport from 2018 to 2020. Minister Patricia del Pozo commended his generosity, and the CAAC intends to ensure the artworks are accessible to the public.
