A significant retrospective dedicated to José Claudio da Silva has commenced at Galeria Nara Roesler in São Paulo, showcasing around 150 pieces. Curated by Aracy Amaral, the exhibition covers a span of seven decades, from the 1950s through the 1990s. Notable series featured include 'Aventura da Linha' (1955) and 'Simetria' (1982). Claudio's artistic journey began at the Ateliê Coletivo in Recife, followed by a move to Salvador in 1953-54, where he was influenced by Mario Cravo Júnior and Carybé, before finally relocating to São Paulo. He worked with Di Cavalcanti and studied at Escola de Artesanato do MAM SP. Claudio participated in several São Paulo Biennials, earning the Acquisition Prize in 1957. His later works depict carnival scenes and nude portraits. Nara Roesler describes the exhibition as a tribute to her 90-year-old mentor.
