José Angelino and Tristano di Robilant in Dialogue at Alessandra Bonomo Gallery, Rome
Alessandra Bonomo Gallery in Rome presents a two-person exhibition featuring José Angelino (born 1977, Ragusa) and Tristano di Robilant (born 1964, London), curated as an intimate and organic dialogue, as described by critic Lorenzo Madaro. The show continues from the earlier exhibition 'Oblique magie del tempo' which closed in Bari on February 15. Both artists work with glass and light, though with distinct approaches. Angelino, trained as a physicist, creates blown glass sculptures animated by neon or argon gases and electromagnetic fields, such as 'Sintonie' (2022) activated by Schumann resonance, and 'Confini' (2021) where light paths are interrupted by brass shavings, Carrara marble, and knots. Di Robilant's works include 'Milleseicento' (2021), a matryoshka-like glass bubble, and 'Cippo Rosa' (2021), Venetian glass agglomerates in transient balance. His glass pieces were made in collaboration with master glassmaker Andrea Zilio of the Anfora furnace in Murano. The exhibition also features ceramic urns with relief quotations from poet Vincenzo Cardarelli, evoking lagoon water and biblical references.
