Jorit discusses Dostoevsky mural praised by Putin on Sky Arte show

Neapolitan street artist Jorit, known for large-scale murals of historical and contemporary heroes, will appear on the April 15 episode of LUCE SOCIAL CLUB, a cultural talk show hosted by Denise Negri and Federico Chiarini, produced by ERMA PICTURES in collaboration with Sky Arte and Cinecittà, directed by Max De Carolis. Jorit gained international attention after Russian leader Vladimir Putin praised his mural of Fyodor Dostoevsky in Fuorigrotta, Naples, which features the artist's signature scar on the cheek. Putin stated, 'I think many know, have seen, how in Naples a street artist recently painted on the wall of a building the portrait of the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky, now canceled in the West. It still gives hope, through mutual sympathy of people, through a culture that connects and unites us all, the truth will surely make its way.' In the episode, airing at 8:00 PM on Sky Arte (channels 120 and 400), available on demand and streaming on NOW and free on arte.sky.it, Jorit will also discuss the mural's inclusion of a quote from Pier Paolo Pasolini's film 'Uccellacci e uccellini,' which also featured comedian Totò. The artist explained that the quote aims to address peace in 'more complex' terms, hoping to inspire local youth. The episode will also feature actor and director Edoardo Leo and musician Nudha.
