Joonhong Min and Ingrid Marie Duo Exhibition at Galerie Hoang Beli for Korea-France Anniversary

exhibition · 2026-04-30

For the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between South Korea and France, curator Hong Lee and Galerie Hoang Beli present 'Allégorie de l’émoi – L’écho de nos sentiments', pairing Korean artist Joonhong Min with French novelist Ingrid Marie. The exhibition explores human emotions through paintings, sculptures, and text fragments, creating a discordant narrative. Min's work features layered aesthetics, repeated motifs, and oxymorons, while Marie contributes staccato prose. Works include 'La Rage', a painting on wood panel depicting faceless figures with cube-shaped heads in a collapsing interior, incorporating Buddhist decorative fragments. 'La peur' shows a female silhouette restrained by a male figure, with a komainu (lion-dog) motif. The installation 'Ephemeral Tableaux II' uses found objects to create a miniature theater with eroded building facades and clay puppets with oversized cubic heads. 'L’allégorie de la joie' portrays a couple floating above architectural strata, with mandarin ducks as Korean amulets. 'Contemplation' features a figure and cat facing a paradise landscape with Dancheong patterns. The exhibition runs at Galerie Hoang Beli, curated by Hong Lee, with photography by Anaïs Pedro.
