Jonathas de Andrade's 'Ivresse d’une vie de bains de mer' at Galleria Continua Paris

Brazilian artist Jonathas de Andrade (born 1982 in Maceió) presents his solo exhibition 'Ivresse d’une vie de bains de mer' at Galleria Continua in Paris Marais from June 12 to September 19, 2026. The title, meaning 'The intoxication of a life spent bathing in the sea,' is derived from a poem by the artist. The exhibition focuses on the Brazilian canoeiro and jangadeiro communities, aiming to capture the beauty of their unique practices and visual codes. De Andrade's work blends fantasy and documentation, drawing from Brazilian Neoconcretism and abstraction inspired by Malevich, with vibrant colors reflecting the diversity of Brazilian culture. The show includes the film 'Jangadeiros e Canoeiros' (2025), shot between the sea of Maceió and the São Francisco River, exploring collective gestures and sociological themes.
