Jonas Staal to Discuss Propaganda Art and Climate Justice at John Cabot University
Artist and propaganda researcher Jonas Staal will deliver a lecture titled 'The Death of Elon Musk and Other Stories' on April 23rd at John Cabot University's Guarini Campus in Rome. The event, part of the Digital Delights & Disturbances series, will explore art's role amid global crises like authoritarianism and climate collapse. Staal advocates for transnational climate tribunals to prosecute fossil fuel elites and emphasizes emancipatory propaganda. He co-founded the Court for Intergenerational Climate Crimes with Radha D'Souza, organizing public hearings worldwide. Staal's work includes collaborations with political bodies such as DiEM25 and Progressive International. His research began after the 2004 murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, highlighting art's non-neutral impact.
