Jonas Mekas 16mm DVD Box Set Co-edited by Re:Voir, Potemkine, agnès b.
A new six-DVD box set showcasing the films of Jonas Mekas has been jointly released by Re:Voir, Potemkine, and agnès b. This collection features notable works such as The Brig (1964), Walden (1969), Lost Lost Lost (1976), and Reminiscences of a Journey to Lithuania (1971), alongside a disc filled with short films. However, it misses out on This Side of Paradise (1999) and Paradise Not Yet Lost (1980). Mekas, originally from Lithuania and a WWII survivor, moved to New York in 1949. His films often explore themes of nature, meals, friendship, and walking. A retrospective of his work is set for the Centre Pompidou in Paris, running from November 30, 2012, to January 7, 2013. The author first saw Mekas's films in the mid-1990s at Artcinema Off Off in Copenhagen, where 16mm films were screened for just 10 Danish kroner.
