Jonas Lund's AI-Generated Exhibition Satirizes Corporate Creativity at Annka Kultys Gallery

Swedish artist Jonas Lund presents 'In the Middle of Nowhere II' at Annka Kultys Gallery in London through June 4. The exhibition features AI-generated works that critique contemporary creative workplaces and question the originality of human artistic output. Central to the show is the 2023 video 'The Future of Something,' depicting disgruntled technology workers and influencers in self-help sessions discussing their experiences with algorithms. The video combines unconvincing visual renderings with eerily believable AI-generated voices, creating a satirical commentary on AI debates. Lund also displays digitally produced tapestry canvases featuring animal-headed business figures in retro office settings, all purportedly created using image-generating AI. Another installation, 'CEO Dashboard,' shows four monitors displaying stock market data, AI training processes, corporate motivation videos, and text feeds used to train AI assistants. The exhibition previously appeared at Office Impart in Berlin in February. Lund's work suggests that much human creative production is already repetitive and derivative, making it potentially replaceable by machines. The artist employs AI tools like ChatGPT and image generators to create works that ironically critique the very technology they utilize. His approach highlights the banality of ideas often discussed in AI debates while questioning whether certain creative work holds inherent value.
