Jon Rafman's Futuristic LED Tunnel for Balenciaga
On September 30, 2018, in Saint Denis, Balenciaga presented its summer 2019 collection in a runway installation created by artist Jon Rafman and creative director Demna Gvasalia. The set featured a 2,000-square-meter tunnel of LED screens, illuminated by blue light and error screens, with music by French composer BFRND. Models emerged from a side entrance as Rafman's visuals liquefied, showing 3D lava, white noise, chains, and barbed wire, creating a cavernous, futuristic atmosphere. The immersive experience blended fashion, music, and digital art to reflect contemporary anxieties about the future.
