Jon McCormack's 'Patterns' Reveals Nature's Hidden Geometries

publication · 2026-04-01

Photographer Jon McCormack's new monograph 'Patterns: Art of the Natural World', published by Damiani, explores natural geometries from microscopic diatoms to aerial landscapes. The book features images from Iceland, Kenya, Botswana, Australia, Canada, and Svalbard, captured between 2014 and 2025 using seven or eight different cameras, including an iPhone whose software McCormack helped engineer at Apple. Proceeds benefit Vital Impacts, a women-led nonprofit founded by Ami Vitale supporting conservation. McCormack describes the book as 'a visual poem to our planet.'
