John Virtue's Monochromatic Works to Fill Fortnum & Mason in London Exhibition
From September 10th to October 20th, Fortnum & Mason in London will showcase seventy large monochromatic pieces by British landscape artist John Virtue. This exhibition is the first extensive presentation of his artwork since his 2005 showing at the National Gallery, where he holds the position of Artist Associate. Curated by Robert Upstone, the former director of the Fine Art Society and ex-head of Modern British Art at Tate Britain, the show is part of Fortnum's x Frank, the store's annual partnership with art collector Frank Cohen, featuring his vast collection of modern and contemporary art. Virtue's work is profoundly influenced by his moves from Lancashire to Devon, London, and now Norfolk, and coincides with the London Design Festival and Frieze Art Fair. The artworks will be displayed across various floors of the Piccadilly venue.
