John Travolta's 'Saturday Night Fever' Suit Leads Propstore's Entertainment Memorabilia Auction
Propstore is auctioning over 1,700 pieces of film, TV, music, and sports history starting August 26 at L.A.'s Petersen Automotive Museum, with live and online bidding. The star lot is John Travolta's white three-piece suit from 'Saturday Night Fever' (1977), estimated at $200,000–$400,000. Previously owned by critic Gene Siskel, who bought it for $2,000 in 1978 and sold it for $145,000 in 1995, the jacket still bears Travolta's inscription. The most expensive lot is a 15-inch Mighty Joe Young puppet from 1949, expected to fetch $1–2 million. Other highlights include a hoverboard from 'Back to the Future II' and a Wilson volleyball from 'Cast Away,' each estimated at $150,000–$300,000. Propstore COO Brandon Alinger noted that pop culture collectors buy for love, not investment. A free exhibition of 60 lots runs through August 2 at West Hollywood's Baad House.
