John Tain Appointed Director of Curatorial Affairs at Carnegie Museum of Art
Starting December 8, John Tain will begin his new role as the director of curatorial affairs at the Carnegie Museum of Art. He previously led research at the Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong from 2017 to 2023. Last year, he curated the "Translations, Expansions" exhibition for documenta fifteen and recently managed the third Lahore Biennale, themed "Of Mountains and Seas." Before that, he curated modern and contemporary collections at the Getty Research Institute in Los Angeles from 2007 to 2017. In Pittsburgh, he’ll collaborate with museum director Eric Crosby. Tain also serves on the Asia Forum council, advises the Hauser & Wirth Institute, and contributes to the Flow of History program focused on Southeast Asian women artists since the 18th century, alongside editing for Intersecting Modernisms.
