John Morgan Hosts Book Destruction Event at London Art Book Fair

festival-fair · 2026-04-20

As part of the ArtReview Live series, John Morgan, the Art Director of ArtReview and founder of John Morgan Studio, will lead an innovative event named 'I Will Not Make Any More Boring Books.' Scheduled for September 12, 2014, this gathering will occur at the Whitechapel Gallery during the London Art Book Fair. Attendees are invited to bring books they wish to destroy for personal reasons, such as regretful gifts or disagreeable content. Morgan plans to destroy some of his own designs and will encourage colleagues to participate, with all remnants to be recycled. The event will include design criticism, therapeutic destruction, discussions, and refreshments. Additionally, on September 26, 2014, ArtReview managing editor Oliver Basciano will join critics Tom Morton and Gilda Williams for a panel discussion titled 'How to Write About Contemporary Art,' also part of the London Art Book Fair events.
