John Lennon and Yoko Ono's 'Love' receives meditation mix with never-before-seen Super 8 footage
A new music video for John Lennon's Plastic Ono Band track 'Love' features previously unseen Super 8 home movies of Lennon and Yoko Ono. Created by Simon Hilton, vice president of the John Lennon Estate, the video uses footage from late 1969, including scenes at Tittenhurst Park in Ascot and a holiday on Spetses Island in Greece. The project is part of Meditation Mixes, a collaboration with the Lumenate meditation app, described by Hilton as 'legal digital drugs' that guide users through flickering light sequences. A revised edition of 'Love' with original instrumental additions and a revamped mix was released for Record Store Day on Saturday 18 April 2026. Initially, the team experimented with visual representations of musical waveforms but found the intimate footage of the couple most authentic. The video preserves the heavy film grain and low shutter speed of the original Super 8 stock, capturing moments like Yoko Ono's smile and ocean scenes. Sean Ono Lennon collaborated on the project, which aims to provide a relaxing listening experience without replacing the original recordings. The vinyl release is available exclusively on Record Store Day.
